Our Second Family
Since finding out about Eian's Down syndrome. we have gained a whole new family that we would have never known. I joined a online support group for down syndrome right before we got his test in. they have been amazing anytime i have a question or just need to talk they understand. so not only did i gain a beautiful healthy baby boy having Eian but I gained a 2nd family.
i have meet some wonderful people who are in the same place as me and some who have been there and can give guidence. i have made new friends and i'm thankful for them

Smiles Smiles Smiles
seems thats all Eian is doing these days. Smiling like crazy. I swear I'm trying to catch them on camera with no luck. but I promise I will get some even if I have to take the camera to bed with me since he likes smiling at me at 4am trying to get me to not puit him back to sleep. and they aren't just little smiles i mean he smiles big smiles now. makes me wanna cry everytime he does it.. I'm so lucky to have two wonderful boys in my life that call me mama. I wouldnt trade either one for anything

About My Business

Where has time gone?
My baby is no longer a baby he'll be 3 in just 3 months 4-19. it seems like just yesterday he was a tiny baby like Eian. I can't believe how fast Alex has grown up. he's so smart and into everything. right now as i type he's watching tv and playing his game boy advance mario. just like his daddy. I'm gonna start planning his party soon. with everything else going on i need to start early. wait gotta get alex outta this level.................... ok sorry he gets stuck sometimes lol.
then my little baby is growing up too. i told ya'll he rolled over he's also smiling and making all kinds of baby noises, lefting his head and trying to get up. he is always scooting off his blanket. He is up to 12lbs 4oz and 24 in long now. it's crazy when we found out about his ds i wasnt upset i was worried about things to come if he would be behind, would his brother be made at all the attention we have to give him, was his heart ok. Today i dont even think about those things anymore. we know his heart is fine. he goes back to the heart dr in april just for a check up and then he wont have to see him except every 5 years. he's actually ahead on some and right on target with out milestones. Alex loves him more than anything. and is very protective. i wouldnt trade him for anything in teh world. those two little words are just that two little words. my son is Eian not Down syndrome. thats all he'll ever be is Eian and no matter what he does or doesnt do we'll all love him just the same.
dont even get me started on Joel. it'll be 8 years on feb 13 since that day when we started dating. yes we have had ups and downs, on time and off time. but all in all we fit together perfect. our life together is forever even if he doesnt wanna admit it lol.

Happy New Year
To everyone. We had a great christmas. now it's time to get the house clean fun fun. I'm in the process of starting my own photography business so i've been busy working on that but it's all good i've had some good photo shoots the last few weeks.

OMG Eian Rolled Over
he was laying on a blanket on the floor on his back and i had his new giggling octopus ms jackie gave him on his left side working with getting him to lay his head on that side. i looked down at my phone for just a second and looked up and he was in the process of rolling over and he got all the way on his tummy. i almost cried. i had to look in Alex's baby book to see when he rolled over and he didnt do it until 4 months. eian's not even 3 months old yet. it could be a fluke but i'm the proudest mommy in the world right now.

Eian’s EI (Early Intervention)
Today was Eian's 1st real day of EI. Ms. Jackie comes once a week for an hour to our house and works with Eian. He did good. She worked with him on turning and keeping his head to the left. Christmas Is Coming! Christmas Is Coming!
It's just a few days away. I can't wait. I am done with my shopping. Got everything wrapped. The boys have cute outfits. The next few weeks are gonna be so busy. But i'm so excited I can't wait to see Alex on christmas morning this year. last year he had fun but this year is gonna be the best so far.
I had the boys pictures made i get them back tomorrow. i'll post them once i do.

Eian’s 2 month check up and updates
Eian had his 2 month check up on monday he's up to 10lbs 3oz and 22" long. dr was really impressed with him. he laso got 3 shots my poor baby didnt feel good after that. then on tues Jackie from Early Intervention came over and he'll be having his EI every tues at 9am. so i'm happy he's getting that started. also we are gonan sit down next week and decided what other therapies he needs so we can get that started. He's doing so good moving his head and holding it up like a big boy.
Alex is driving me crazy the last few weeks the terrible twos are hitting us hard now. somedays i just wanna pull my hair out lol. but other than that he's doing good he's very smart and knows all kinds of things including calling me a dumb dumb head the other day when he got mad at me. He's so ready to get into his gifts under the tree. he loves all the "hoho lights" as he calls them. after xmas i'm gonna start working him him so much time a day on things that he'll need in school. since i'm gonna be a stay at home mom i've got time. plus hopefully it will give him something todo other than drive me crazy.

Eian’s Cardiologist Update
he went to see a pedi cardiologist today for the first time. it went great his heart is just fine. thank god. that has been the one thing i have worried the most over since no scan was done in the hospital. he has also gained 5oz since last week. he's up 9lbs 6oz. he did so good. the dr did say he has the common open valve thingy that alot of babies have and that it will close up sometime in the 1st year so he did make a follow up appt for Eian in april. Also the greatest thing about the pedi cardio dr is that he has a 3 yr old nephew with down syndrome. so he was on a personal level with me telling me all the place to contact to get help and all the things i would need to do during his first year it was great.the lady with early intervention is coming tomorrow morning to set up everything and fill out all the paper work i'm so happy he's doing good. i'll post some pictures and videos soon of him

What is Down Syndrome?
What is Down syndrome?
Down syndrome is a lifelong condition in which a person is born with distinct physical features, such as a flat face and short neck, and some degree of cognitive disability (mental retardation). Although Down syndrome is permanent, most people who have it are able to live healthy, productive lives. Given the proper care and help they need, children with Down syndrome can flourish and grow into healthy and happy adults.
What causes Down syndrome?
Down syndrome is caused by abnormal cell division very early in fetal development. This abnormal division produces an extra or irregular chromosome in some or all of the body's cells. Chromosomes carry genetic material (DNA), or genes, to every cell in the body. The extra or irregular chromosome causes the body and brain to develop differently than in people who have normal chromosomes.
What are the symptoms?
Many children with Down syndrome have noticeable features, such as a flat face with small ears and mouth. Most young children have weak muscles (hypotonia), which generally improves by late childhood.
Below-average intelligence and physical problems often result in developmental disabilities. A child with Down syndrome may also be born with heart, intestinal, or ear and respiratory defects. These health conditions often lead to other problems, such as respiratory infections or difficulty hearing.
How is Down syndrome diagnosed?
During your pregnancy, you may choose to have tests to screen for Down syndrome and other abnormalities in your fetus. Screening does not diagnose Down syndrome but rather provides information about the likelihood that your fetus will have the condition. Screening tests include:
Fetal ultrasound, which uses reflected sound waves to provide an image of your fetus and placenta. During the ultrasound the technician may measure the thickness your fetus's neck (nuchal fold). Swelling in this area may indicate an increased risk of Down syndrome.
Maternal serum triple or quadruple screen test. This test measures substances in your blood that can give clues to your fetus's health.
To confirm a diagnosis during your pregnancy, you can have a chromosome analysis called a karyotype. This test can be done on tissue obtained through chorionic villus sampling or on amniotic fluid obtained through amniocentesis. Getting the sample for a karyotype slightly increases the chance for miscarriage. For this reason, karyotype testing is usually only recommended if screening tests (ultrasound or triple/quadruple screening) are positive for Down syndrome and/or the fetus is at increased risk for Down syndrome, such as if you are age 35 or older.
Karyotype testing can also be done in the first few days after birth from a sample of the baby's blood. It may take 2 to 3 weeks to get the complete test results. However, a doctor often has a good sense of whether or not the diagnosis will be positive based on the baby's appearance, the results of a physical exam, family history, and results of earlier screening tests (if done during pregnancy).
How is it treated?
You and your child's doctor will make a specific treatment plan based on your child's needs. This plan is adjusted as your child grows and develops. Early treatment focuses on identifying and treating health problems. Speech and language therapy, physical therapy, and nutritional counseling are examples of early and continuing treatment.
As your child matures, working with an occupational therapist can help him or her to develop job and independent living skills. A physical therapist may add exercises, and a counselor may offer ways to work on managing emotions.
Proper medical care, emotional support, and social opportunities will all help your child to reach his or her full potential. Many people with Down syndrome live into their 50s and some into their 60s or older.

My Birthday
Well yesterday was my b-day I'm 24 now. i spent the first part of the day shopping gotta love black friday i finished just about all my xmas shopping i even got the cutest thing to put up for Eian for his 1st birthday. my sister Katie stayed with me that nite so we could get up and go shop early but we ended up staying up all nite. so by the time i went to bed last nite i had been up for over 36 hrs man i was tired. so after i finished my shopping i headed over to mamas to see my lil Eian but he wasn't feeling good. he must have had that bug his brother had he's better today tho. then after i picked up Eian I went and got my big boy Alex out my nana and granddaddy's house. he hapy made me a card it was so sweet i hung it on my fridge. Alex sang me happy birthday and gave me kisses it was so sweet i loved seening all my family on my b-day only one i missed was Joe he's having a good time in Vegas. I do miss him even tho he's only been gone since thrusday. he'll be back late sunday. but my boys made my day wonderful i love being a mommy. i'll post new pictures later

Appts, Appts, Appts.
Seems everytime I turn around we have an appt for something but the craziness hasn't even begun yet. once Eian starts Therpy and all I'll be super busy.
We finally got his appt with the ped. cardiologist to have his heart check out. and for those who don't know heart problems go along with Down Syndrome. he's not had his heart looked at any yet so i'm really ready for this appt to make sure everything looks good.
I finally got in touch with Early Intervention. they took my name and info and said he does quilfy for it since he has DS. which is good. that will be his therpies and so forth until he's 3. They said that I would get a call from our local person either the begining of next week or the next since it is a holiday next week.
The dr Switched his milk and he seems to be doing better he's on Enfamil Nutramigen it's only $25 a can lol. lucky for us once i get the paper in to wic from the dr they will cover it thank god.
Eian went to the dr yesterday and he's up to 9lbs 1oz thats great he's gained from 8lbs 8oz in just 6 days. my lil piggy loves to eat.
I gotta pick up Eian's 1 month pictures today so be looking for them i'll get them scanned and posted for all to see.
I'm also gonna take the boys to see santa if he's at the mall today so be looking for that picture too.

Eian Update
Eian will be 6 weeks old tomorrow and last friday he weighted 8lbs 8oz. he's growing good. he's so sweet and loving. Alex is so protective of him it's so sweet he'll tell people no mine baby bubba. We did find out that Eian has Down Syndrome. Don't be sad for us. I feel like God picked us and we are truely lucky to have him. We are prepared to do whatever it takes for him to have a wonderful life just as we will with Alex. We are taking it one day at a time. We have a wonderful family and Super friends that support us and are will to help us any way they can. I'll keep you updated and post new pictures. This is a journey I look forward to. It maybe a long road but with love we'll make it. and thats what we have is lots of love.

October 14, 2007 - Sunday
Almost 2 weeks
Eian is doing good. he's eating like a lil piggy now and has gained weight he weighted 6lbs when we left the hospital and thrusday he weighted 6lbs 8oz. i'm so happy. Alex is doing good too. he loves his bubba. and calles him "in out" Alex is so smart he learns things so fast. he's not my baby anymore. i'm feeling better now. Joel's doing good too. him and alex fight over Eian all the time it's funny.

OMG My Water Broke (Birth Story)
Tuesday i woke up to my phone ringing it was my grandma she was having trouble breathing and i got up at 5:30am and me and alex took her to the er we where there til 8 and we took her home. i had my appt at 9 am to see my new dr and have the gbs done so i left alex at my grandparents and went. i waited an hour to see the dr and after the appt we called and set my new c-sec date since i was changing hospitals and set it for 10-26 well i left and went back to get alex. we stayed there until about 12:30pm and i got alex up to leave took him to the car and my water broke. so we had my grandma and aunt take us to my moms so she could take us to the hospital i called joel at work and told him. we all got to the hospital at about 2 and it took my dr 2 hrs to get there all the time i'm leaking and having contrations. well after my dr got there they decided to transfer me to a level 3 hospital since i was only 35 weeks and off we went in the ambluance. we got there at about 6 and had to wait until 8pm for the c-sec. we went back and it took them almost an hour to get Eian out cuz i had so much scar tissue from alex. he came out at 8:59pm screaming and he weighted 6lbs and 5oz and is doing great he's a lil sleepy head and you have to wake him to geth him to eat but we got to come home today. his big brother alex just loves him so much. i'm doing good too. this c-sec was much easier than my first

Time flies

TIME FLIES
I still can't believe my lil man is 2 years old he's so smart and even tho he's a handfull i would not trade him for anything. he'll be 3 years old in 8 months.
Then to think in 8 weeks Eian will be here. I'm so ready. We have everything ready for him. me and alex packed his hospital bag yesterday.
Can you belive that me and joel have been together for 8 years in feb. seems like a life time. things are good with us. i think he's as ready as me to get Eian here and have our family complete. now all i need is his last name lol but i'm not pushing lol.
Alex is so much like Joel it's not funny. But with my temper. what a combo lol. I can't wait to see who Eian looks and acts like. prolli Joel too. lol
We had another ultrasound the other day and Eian is all boy so no more doubts. He looks like he has alex's nose. Almost 31 weeks down. 8 more to go.
Alex played in the rain the other day for the first time he loved it and now wants to go out everytime it rains.
I posted a few new pictures. and i swear i have wrote out thank yous for the baby shower and i promise i'll get them out before Eian gets here lol.

Just An Update
Just thought i should stop in and update. all is well. we only have 11 weeks until Eian gets here and i'm so ready. I go back to the dr today. i have to take my suger test fun fun :( i hate that stuff. so far i've only gained 4 lbs. i had gained 6 but i lost 2 so we'll see today if i've gained anymore. Alex is doing good. he's growing and learning so fast. he's too smart for his age. we are still working on potty training. i atleast wanna have him trained during the day by the time Eian gets here. I've been working on the boys room it's starting to look good except all the toys Alex pulled out after i cleaned it but other wise it's getting there. i just have to clean it again and paint there names on the walls i have them in pencil i just need to paint and i'll be done.
my baby shower is next weekend and i can't wait hopefully joel will get to be off that day. I just gotta get my house cleaned now. We got a puppy his name is jack and there is a picture of him and alex in my pics. Alex is doing good with him so far he always wants to play with jack. me and joel are good too.

We found out yesterday that Baby 2 is boy 2. He'll be Eian. and Alex is excited he keeps talking about his baby bubba. Eian is healthy and 9oz. Joel was so happy thats what he wanted.

How your baby's growing: At around 4 inches long, crown to rump, your baby now weighs about 2 1/2 ounces. me and alex where watching tv laying on the couch and the baby kicked me. it was like a tiny poke from the inside. pretty cool i remember when alex started that.

such a daddy's boy!
Alex is so much like his daddy it's not funny. He loves video games, women, wrestling, boobs, and ketchup. He has to do everything daddy does. When joel 1st got his tattoo alex seen it and just loved it he even took a bath at my mom's and drew on the back of his army man with his bath crayon and said like mine dada. so joel just had it touched up and i have to rub it down with lotion and after i do his i have to rub alex down too lol.
I think it is just so cute.
On a second note. this new baby is killing me. this pregnancy is so different than alex's. i stay sick to my stomach 24/7 it better be a girl lol. just don't tell joel he wants another boy.

New Baby!!
Well Friday nite Joel and I found out we are expecting again. It'll be due around Nov. 6 2007. I'm almost 5 weeks. We are excited it was a big shock but it went over well everybody is excited too. We'll just have to see how Alex does with a new baby. Good thing we got a bigger house now. lol

Joel's buying us a house
i'm excited nothing is final yet but we both really like it and it's very nice with a big back yard that is fenced in for alex to play in and he will have is own room along with a game room just for joel. i just wanted to tell everyone the news. i'll let ya know once we know something for sure

Caleb is here
Kirsten had her baby on Dec 28th. she did great and he's so cute he weighted 5lbs 12oz pretty big to be 6 weeks early. Kirsten is doing good and got to come home yesterday. Caleb will be home in a week or so. there is a picture of him in my pics

Update
Things are going pretty good here. Other than me being jobless(long story). we are trying to find ways to save money. still not sure if we are moving in with joel's parents or not. gotta work out some details with them. i don't mind paying them to live there but $200 is what we pay for our whole house right now. so who knows. alex is good acting more like joel everyday. he's learning to put words together to make whole sentances. still gotta take him to see santa. i've been making graphics and siggy for a board and i've enjoyed that. i've gotta go and take some pictures of alexa and eric for xmas. cuz we are going up to nc on sat for xmas with joel's grandparents. which joel will get to go to this year and i'm super happy about that.well thats about it so i'm out for now.

Early Christmas Gift
Joel gave me my christams gift early. well he let me pick it out. and i love it and i love him. i never tought i'd see the day when joel would buy me Dawn Jolly a diamond ring. but he says it's just a ring but whatever i'm still so happy with it and it's so pretty. it's 1/4 kt. in white gold. he is such a sweet heart even if he has pouted about it since he bought it. I knew in my heart he loved me even if he doesnt show it but he proved it to me no matter what he says about it lol. Joel Kaufman is the only man in the world for me even if he doesn't like it lol.

My Joel Can Be Sweet? WTF!!!!
nah i know he can be but it's not everyday. but he did prove to me that he still loves, which i have been doubting, we left sunday night and went to NC. we had a great time. i love being with him. he was so sweet holding doors and holding my hands. kissing me and it was a perfect few days. well anyways. we're good and so is alex he's learning so many new things its hard to keep up with them all. he's really loving HOHO, Nomans(snowman), nandeers(reindeer). and the ights(lights) the kids learns new words every couple minutes.

Thanksgiving Update
I had a good thanksgiving and birthday. i stuffed myself with great food. my dad-in-law is a great cook. when i left i just wanted to crawl in bed and sleep for days. alex was so sweet my mama got me a cake and they sang happy birthday to me and then my lil man blew out my candle. and stuck in little fingers in my cake lol it was so cute. we also ate at my aunts house and my cousin came with her three 3kids my god babies. alex had fun playing with kaylee, kathrine and noah. he kept trading poopers with the twins lol. me and brandi talked about her upcomming wedding. in which i'm her maid of honor. on friday i got up really early to go shopping i just had one thing i really wanted to get but i left walmart with a buggy full and $184 less in my account but i am almost finished with my shoppoing just a few lil ones to get here and there. joel send me a text yesterday tell me to ask for monday and tuesday off. i was like what why? cuz monday is his birthday HaHa joel i'm 23 and your 22 lol. i told him ok i would and i wondered why until i got home. i asked him and he was like we're gonna outta town and amandas gonna keep alex. ok i didnt get anymore details than that cuz alex was sleepy and joel was playing his wii. so i'm wondering who knows! well i got some great shots the past few days and i'm still not done. i'm trying to update my portfolio for you who don't know my dream is to become a photographer and own my own bussiness. i think i'm pretty good. you can check for yourself and let me know what you think here is my page deviantart i'm hopefully gonna be offering my services soon so keep a watch. i'm gonna try and shoot alex's christmas pictures today and i'm hoping Kirsten will let me get some belly shots to add to my collection.

It's Begining to Look A Lot Like Christmas
Well at my house anyways. I'm so excited Alex is just old enough to really enjoy it this year. I put our tree up yesterday and he loves it. I've gotten alot of my shopping done too but I still have a lot to buy and I'm gonna start wrapping soon. I'm doing ok. i been feeling really good. Alex is getting so big. And so mouthy all I hear all day long is NO! and with such an attitude you's think he was a teenager. I'm ready to eat turkey. my birthday is in just a few days its on thanksgiving this year. I been busy getting everything ready for Kirsten's baby shower. I have worked really hard ad i hope she loves it. I have a really cool surprise for her but she can't have it until the shower.it's killing me to wait but it'll be better like that.well I'm gonna go I have to get Joel up for work.

Well at my house anyways. I'm so excited Alex is just old enough to really enjoy it this year. I put our tree up yesterday and he loves it. I've gotten alot of my shopping done too but I still have a lot to buy and I'm gonna start wrapping soon. I'm doing ok. i been feeling really good. Alex is getting so big. And so mouthy all I hear all day long is NO! and with such an attitude you's think he was a teenager. I'm ready to eat turkey. my birthday is in just a few days its on thanksgiving this year. I been busy getting everything ready for Kirsten's baby shower. I have worked really hard ad i hope she loves it. ok joel says if i clean our house and keep it clean we can have a party here for our birthdays since they are both coming up. mine nov 23 and his nov. 27 yes i'm older. it's gonna be cool i'm gonna invite all the guys over and have a good time. i'll be sending out invites soon. it's gonna be on nov. 18. yell at ya later i gotta get to work

update
well it's October. Alex is getting so big and smart. he's growing so fast. it makes me want another but i've decided that i wanna wait until he's atleast 4 i think 4 years is a good age between kids. i'll have him outta diapers and in preschool. me and joel are doing good. i'd love to be married to him but i'm also very happy with where we are now so i wont complain. although it would be nice to share a last name with my son lol. we had to get rid of teh hampster smokie kept trying to eat her. oh well i dont miss her. i'm thinking maybe a gold fish. i really wanna move. but i'm just waiting to see what joel wants to do. kirtsens doing good she's getting bigger and we are working on plans for a baby shower those important enough will get invites lol. i'm going to be in two weddings soon. my cousin brandi is getting married in dec and i'm gonna eb her maid of honor, she also wants joel as a groomsman and alex as a ring bearer. and in july my friend ashleigh is getting married. and i'm gonna be a bridesmaid. so i'm gonna be busy lol. i'm thinking about going back to school but i still dont know what for yet. who knows. i need to get busy and do a phoot shoot whith alex i havent done one is so long. i feel like i'm letting my passion go to waste. i do snapshots but i really love shoots. i'm getting together with jess soon and let her shoot alex lol. let him cheese. and for thjose who don't know about the cheese i'll tell you. we've tought alex when you tell him to cheese it he give the biggest cheeseist grin ever i just love it and so does everone who meets him well i'm gonna go.

Update
things are going good so far lol. alex is getting so big and smart. he can say anything he wants and somethings he shouldn't. his voc list looks like this

he's my lil man. he went for his 15month check up and he's 26lbs 5oz and 33 in long he's doing really good.
me and joel are doing ok he makes me really happy. we have our moments but so does everybody else. he's my one and only true love. he can be so sweet sometimes and then there are times he's just a pain in my butt but i like it like that.
still house hunting, not going too good. it sucks. hopefully me and joel can find us something soon.
i'm still working with justin and thats going good. school starts soon and my hours will be changing.
also i'm learning to cook since joel moved in with us and i think i'm doing pretty good.

American Idol
Ok i have to admit i'm a fan i watch it every week and all season long and have since the second season. but this year has pissed me off. Chris Daughtry should have never went home. He was destin to be our new idol. never should kathrine have made it through that night then the next week they sent elliot home. wtf kathrine sucked so tonight i've spend a good 45 mins trying to get through that damn line to vote cuz if taylor doesnt win i'm not watching next year. so back to the phone to call some more.

Time Again
Wow I'm slow lol. ok anywayz. i can't believe Alex will be one in just a month. man time sure does fly. i'm busy planning his party. He's getting so big. Long time no update Sorry
Hello everybody i just wanted to stop and update you all. me and alex finally are out on our own in our apartment now. it's great being in our own place plus i'm right next door to my mom so we can go over and eat dinner lol. christmas was great joe stayed the nite with us and we had so much fun . alex had a ball opening his gifts. and he got so much. more than he needed lol. we stenp new years at my mom's house just watching the count down and alex stayed up past 12. joe had to work 7pm to 7am at the staking rink so we didnt get to see him but thats how it is every year. i've also got a job now and i'm making pretty good. and i like doing it so thats good. i'll post some new pictures later also i bought alex his own domain so i've been trying to update that . i'll post more later.
